JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

Design and administer systems to parallel the overall business strategies of the EDI/Integration team. Document detailed descriptions of user needs, program requirements and functional steps needed to develop and/or modify computer programs that support the Marine Personnel business unit across the organization. Works directly with the business units and corporate services to develop priorities, define requirements, recommend solutions and report status for application system changes and reporting requirements. Interface with users, programmers and the Solutions & Technology as a liaison for communicating user requirements and resolving application problems. Design reporting to ensure mariners are compliant with both regulatory, customer and company requirements. Manage assigned team members to ensure quality assurance and efficiency targets are met and continue to support corporate programs. Provide ad hoc reporting/queries to business unit customers upon request. Ensure the data integrity of business systems.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • ERP implementation and administration

  • Responsible for databases supporting Pelitas business operations

  • Collaborate with business users, customers, suppliers, vendors and various Solutions & Technology Team members to plan, gather requirements and develop solutions

  • Planning and execution of multiple projects of various complexities. Tasks include implementations, support, testing, documentation and monitoring systems – including database management, system integration / EDI data mapping, translation and interfaces.

  • Lead a team of EDI analysts, managing work tasks, priorities and team goals

  • Oversees installation, implementation, upgrades and maintenance of various Database/EDI/Middleware software solutions.

  • Preparing system development cost estimates, benefit analysis, and schedules.

  • Developing project management proposals and presenting to leadership.

  • Develops and establishes standards and procedures. Ensures the ongoing effectiveness of systems controls and adherence to corporate standards, policies and values.

  • Manage analyst responsibilities and project list ensuring priority and completion.

  • Manage the EDI implementation and expand to additional customers as required.

  • Provide end-user software support for a wide variety of applications, including Microsoft Office products, Crystal reports, etc.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to query database, SQL server

  • Broad understanding of EDI/Middleware technologies and processes that support business systems is required

  • Experience with ETL processes and tools

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement projects on time and within budget.

  • In depth understanding of business systems life-cycle and associated implementation methodologies, tools and techniques.

  • Excellent communication and team-working skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of management to assess business requirements, and to plan, manage and deliver stable, reliable and cost-effective technology solutions.

  • Experience in delivering high caliber soft skills including interpersonal skills (e.g. courtesy, patience, and professionalism), customer service, and initiative.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred and 8+ years EDI work experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in an Information Technology (IT) role with an emphasis on EDI/Middleware systems administration, design, analysis and development

  • Minimum five (5) years database management of Microsoft SQL Server & Oracle systems

  • Minimum of three (3) years management experience and proven leadership skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching.  Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.  Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.  Requires lifting papers or boxes up to 50 pounds occasionally.  Work is performed in an office environment.  Work may be stressful at times.  Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.  Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations.
